North Muskegon - Madhouse
Carole and Dave run a Campus Life teen outreach for 8th -12th graders. They meet on Thursday evenings from 6-8 pm in the youth facility of Crosswinds Fellowship of North Muskegon, which the Campus Life students had a major hand in decorating. Another name that has been given to this Campus Life ministry is MAD House. MAD stands for Making A Difference. And the way we are trying to Make A Difference in teenagers’ lives is by giving them one piece of a puzzle of who God is and how God relates to their lives. We want them to know something about God they didn’t know when they arrived that night. And as they put the puzzle pieces together, our prayer is they will get an accurate picture of God and be able to make an informed decision as to what they want to do with their “God Information”.
The large group productions draw about 150 students. The night begins with high energy activities -- live bands, multi-media, games, skits and a spiritual challenge -- and ends with small group discussions about the night’s topic. About 25 students within the group are CORE STUDENTS. They help put the programming together and have a deeper level of spiritual growth than the other students. We are blessed with 20 adult volunteer leaders, some of whom have been helping for 20+ years.
Beyond the Thursday evening production, MAD House ministry includes trips, retreats, and concerts, along with involvement in other community events such as Unity Christian Music Festival at Heritage Landing and Rock the Coast at Michigan’s Adventure.
