Leaders Who Lead

As a Campus Life Director, it’s always nice to know when you are not the only one that loves students and wants them to have a relationship with Jesus. Recently, I have had the privilege of seeing some of my Campus Life volunteers take a leap of faith and get to know kids on a new level. They have gone from Monday night Club volunteers, to people that desire to jump in the everyday lives of kids.
Do you know what that says to students? It tells them that there are caring adults out there that genuinely want to be a part of their lives. Not for pay, not for fame, not for their own satisfaction, but purely and simply because they love Jesus and care for what he cares about. So they meet with them for coffee, they go to their indoor soccer games when no one else is there to cheer them on, they give them a ride home from practice and ask them about their day.
That is living out the gospel. My leaders aren’t all youth ministry majors, they haven’t gotten degrees from the local seminary, but they do love Jesus and that is what a kid needs to see. I’m so glad I’m surrounded with a team like that.
